REPRESENT FW26: JAWBREAKER Takes Mainline in a Harder Direction
REPRESENT is going back to its roots for FW26, but not by simply revisiting them. JAWBREAKER, launching 2 September, is the first full season created by the brand’s London-based Mainline design team under Toni Purdie, and it pushes the label’s relationship with Britpop, Americana, workwear and sportswear into more confrontational territory.
The collection’s guiding word — JAWBREAKER — informs everything from silhouette and fabrication to graphics and hardware. The result is a Mainline proposition that feels tougher, more considered and materially more ambitious.
Outerwear gets the strongest treatment. The Riot Puffer takes the familiar puffer and cuts it boxy and cropped, with a cinchable waist, deep funnel neck, internal cuffs and silver hardware. It arrives in Jet Black nylon and the season’s Riot Camo, a hand-painted print designed to look as though it has been hit by rain.
The Outlander Parka goes heavier still, built from washed 600gsm organic-cotton canvas with a detachable down-filled gilet liner, COBRAX press studs and a fishtail hem.
Denim has also been substantially reworked, moving onto heavier fabrics with new curve and flare proportions. Standouts include a 15oz Trucker Jacket, washed-black Carpenter Jean and heavily distressed, extra-long Baggy Jean.
Elsewhere, workwear, distorted graphics and punk references run through washed canvas jackets, jersey pieces, reversible plaid and hand-drawn artwork. Footwear loosens the proportions, with the distressed leather Rep-Cap joined by the new Rally, Low-Pro and Storm-Torn silhouettes.
Accessories extend the collection into jewellery, leather goods and a new '47 headwear collaboration.
