Eton x Tretorn: A Preppy Capsule for the Off-Court Generation

3 min read

The line between sportswear and tailoring has never been blurrier—in a good way. And with their new capsule collection, Scandinavian icons Eton and Tretorn are leaning all the way in. Inspired by vintage tennis, collegiate style, and modern versatility, the Eton x Tretorn collaboration delivers a refined yet relaxed uniform for the off-court man.

This is Eton’s first full-look menswear collection, and it’s a big swing. Known for its sharp shirting since 1928, the brand steps into new territory by teaming up with Tretorn, a heritage sneaker label whose Nylite tennis shoe is about as classic as it gets. Together, they’ve created a capsule that shifts effortlessly between tailoring and sportswear—with enough edge to reframe preppy style for a new generation.

The palette is understated: think deep forest green, navy, eggshell white, and sandy beige. The textures and silhouettes, however, do the heavy lifting. Relaxed striped shirts channel Ivy League sensibility with none of the starch. A thick-knit varsity cardigan and vest nod to the court-side bleachers. Tailored chinos are reworked in a trackpant spirit, and the shorts follow suit—cut sharp but soft. The looks aren’t screaming for attention, but the details—regimental stripes, interchangeable laces, and logo heritage nods—whisper with intention.

At the centre of the collection is a reimagined Nylite sneaker. Tretorn’s iconic tennis silhouette is given an update, complete with subtle tweaks and playful lacing options that invite customisation. Paired with sports socks, it anchors the look—polished enough for city life, relaxed enough for weekend escapes.

“This capsule is a major moment for us,” says Mija Bladmo, Assortment Director at Eton. “It’s a new take on tailoring—blending heritage and function with modern ease.” Her sentiment is echoed by Carl-Henrik Hallèn, Head of Design at Tretorn: “We’ve taken the DNA of a classic tennis shoe and brought it into a lifestyle context. It’s about expression, movement, and freedom.”

In many ways, this capsule embodies what modern luxury menswear is all about—clothes that are rooted in tradition but aren’t bound by it. Whether you’re layering the varsity cardigan over tailoring or pairing the striped shirt with vintage denim, the pieces flex. Style without fuss. Function without compromise.

The Eton x Tretorn capsule is available from May 7 at select Eton stores, etonshirts.com, and tretorn.com.
