Panerai’s Radiomir Experience Set Turns Watch Ownership Into a Journey Through Time

Luxury watchmaking has long traded on heritage, but Panerai is now offering collectors something more immersive than a display case. The new Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience Set introduces two limited watches sold together for the first time in the brand’s history — alongside an invitation to travel through the house’s origins in Florence and along the Ligurian coast.

At the centre of the release are two distinct interpretations of the Radiomir, each measuring a commanding 47mm and rooted firmly in the brand’s military-era design language.

The first piece, PAM01729, pairs one of Panerai’s most recognisable dial layouts with one of its most coveted case materials. The watch combines the historic California dial — a mix of Roman and Arabic numerals originally designed for clarity in low-light conditions — with a bronze case crafted from a special alloy of pure copper and tin.

The result is a timepiece designed to evolve. Bronze gradually develops a patina through exposure to air, moisture and wear, meaning every watch takes on its own character over time. Against the matte black dial, blue burnished steel hands provide contrast, while beige Super-LumiNova ensures visibility after dark.

Inside sits Panerai’s hand-wound P.3000 calibre, delivering a three-day power reserve through twin barrels and a robust architecture inspired by historical movements. A domed Plexiglas crystal and slim wire lugs reinforce the vintage silhouette, while the titanium caseback reveals the mechanics within.

Its counterpart, PAM01730, shifts the narrative from utilitarian bronze to technical luxury. The watch uses Panerai Platinumtech — a proprietary alloy containing 95% platinum engineered to be significantly harder than traditional platinum while remaining notably heavier than gold.

The design keeps the same early Radiomir cues: a cushion-shaped case, cone-shaped crown and domed crystal. But it introduces a first for the brand — a black circular-brushed dial finished using rotational brushing, creating subtle micro-circles that respond dynamically to light.

Powering the watch is the decorated P.3001/10 calibre, featuring skeletonised bridges with perlage finishing and a rear power-reserve indicator that keeps the dial clean while allowing collectors a view of the movement’s architecture.

Both watches are water-resistant to 100 metres and come paired with dark brown leather straps that lean into the Radiomir’s vintage DNA.
