Panerai Submersible PAM01756: The Tool Watch Evolves with Its First 44mm Bracelet Model

Panerai’s latest Submersible marks a significant first for the collection: the new PAM01756 is the first 44mm Submersible to arrive on a metal bracelet, combining the brand’s naval heritage with a more versatile everyday configuration.

Built around the principles of a professional dive instrument, the PAM01756 retains the defining characteristics that have shaped the Submersible line. The robust stainless steel case, 50-bar water resistance, unidirectional rotating bezel and highly legible no-date dial are all rooted in Panerai’s history of creating functional watches for demanding environments.

The decision to remove the date aperture is particularly notable. While many contemporary dive watches add complications, Panerai has returned to a purer expression of timekeeping. The no-date layout draws directly from the brand’s pre-1998 military-era references, where watches supplied for Italian Navy operations prioritised immediate readability over additional information.

The dial itself features a black sun-brushed finish, designed to create contrast and movement as light catches the surface. White Super-LumiNova® on the indexes and hands ensures visibility, while the Submersible’s signature blue and green luminous indicators differentiate diving time functions in low-light conditions. At 9 o’clock, the small seconds counter features an azurage finish, adding texture through concentric circular engraving.

Inside, the PAM01756 is powered by Panerai’s P.980 automatic calibre. The movement delivers a three-day power reserve and features a traversing balance bridge for improved stability, alongside a stop-second function that allows precise synchronisation when setting the watch.

The new metal bracelet expands the Submersible’s appeal beyond the dive environment. Designed with references to Panerai’s iconic crown protection bridge, the bracelet combines brushed and polished finishes while introducing the Quick Length Adjustment system for the first time in the Submersible range. The mechanism allows the bracelet to extend by 2mm on each side, adapting to changes in wrist size caused by temperature, travel or daily activity.

Completing the package, the screwed stainless steel case back features an engraving of the Slow Speed Torpedo — the underwater craft used by Italian Navy commandos who relied on Panerai instruments during covert missions.

Priced at £11,000, the Submersible PAM01756 continues Panerai’s tradition of producing watches where design follows function — a philosophy that remains central to the brand nearly a century after its first military commissions.
