Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO’s New JACKSON Sneakers Put the Sole First
Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO has added the JACKSON to its Original Sole Sneakers series, bringing the Japanese designer’s signature sculpted sole to a new silhouette available in leather and canvas.
The JACKSON comes in high-top and low-top versions, with each material offering a distinct take on the design. The leather iteration features cut-outs in contrasting materials across the upper, while the canvas version keeps things more uniform, using the fabric throughout to emphasise the stitching.
Both versions feature a raw-edged nylon tongue, adding an unfinished detail to an otherwise pared-back upper. The defining feature, however, remains the sole: an exaggerated design based on a form originally hand-sculpted by designer Mihara Yasuhiro in clay.
It is a familiar approach for the label, which has built a following around its unconventional sneaker proportions and deliberately imperfect finishes. With the JACKSON, the contrast between the relatively restrained upper and the distinctive sole does the work, without requiring an overly complicated design.
Available in leather and canvas, in high-top and low-top styles, the JACKSON is sold exclusively through Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO’s flagship stores and official online store.
