Lee Jeans x Feng Chen Wang: Reimagining the 101 for a Century of Style
Lee Jeans is celebrating over a century of denim mastery with a bold new collaboration that redefines its most iconic silhouette: the 101. Partnering with London-based designer Feng Chen Wang, the 101 series receives a modern, avant-garde reinterpretation that bridges American heritage and contemporary Chinese design.
Feng Chen Wang, known for her deconstructed tailoring and innovative streetwear, has transformed the 101J Rider Jacket and 101 Jeans into statements of structure and fluidity. The designer draws inspiration from bamboo, a symbol of resilience and adaptability, which she translates into asymmetric cuts, gradient washes, and leaf-inspired detailing. “We've reengineered these iconic silhouettes through a contemporary lens,” Wang says.
The collection is anchored in three pillars. First, architectural deconstruction: traditional 101 jackets and jeans are re-examined with unconventional seams, asymmetric proportions, and subtle archival touches like the cinch back and double leather patch. Second, artisanal techniques: laser printing, tie-dye, and gradient washes give each piece a unique character, honoring the craftsmanship behind every stitch. Third, bamboo inspiration: leaf motifs and organic gradients appear across denim shirts, tees, and jeans, marrying narrative and design.
Despite its conceptual edge, the collection prioritizes wearability. The 101 jacket appears in two reimagined versions with asymmetric fastenings and delicate bamboo motifs, while jeans, shirts, and tees offer a cohesive, modern wardrobe. The lineup is simultaneously functional and expressive, a nod to denim’s evolving story and its enduring cultural relevance.
