LABRUM Marks Black History Month with Its Africa Day Collection
LABRUM London is bringing its Africa Day collection into Black History Month, connecting the celebration of African independence and unity with the ongoing fight for freedom, justice and representation.
Founded by Foday Dumbuya, the London-based menswear label draws on his Sierra Leonean heritage to explore the relationship between African culture and the diaspora. Its philosophy, Inform the Unknown, runs through a collection spanning T-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits and a bomber jacket.
Red, green and black – the Pan-African colours – feature across the pieces, alongside a quotation from Jamaican political leader Marcus Garvey: “With confidence you have won before you started.” The message places self-belief alongside collective progress, giving the collection a political and cultural context beyond its graphic-led streetwear.
For Dumbuya, the timing is deliberate. Having grown up in Freetown before building his life in London, he sees the collection as a way to acknowledge the histories that travel with people and the stories that remain unfinished.
The Africa Day collection is available now at Labrum London with T-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits and a bomber jacket forming the lineup.
