Uniqlo U Unveils FW25

3 min read

Uniqlo U has long been the line where the Japanese giant allows itself a little more freedom, a sharper edit, and an elevated finish. Under the direction of Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran, the Paris design studio has shaped Uniqlo U into a reliable source of functional yet refined clothing. For Fall/Winter 2025, the collection takes inspiration from the North Sea—its shifting blues, its stark quiet, its sense of both calm and intensity.

The theme this season is “Future Layers,” and the clue is in the name. This is a wardrobe designed to be built piece by piece, each layer adding contrast, utility, and texture. Think merino knits under technical outerwear, soft lambswool against crisp nylon, PUFFTECH insulation brought together with tailored lines. It’s practical dressing, but with a quiet sophistication that’s become the hallmark of Uniqlo U.

Outerwear is where the collection asserts itself. The men’s PUFFTECH blouson lands with a short, rounded cut, the kind of proportion that feels modern and versatile at once. The BLOCKTECH Utility Parka, meanwhile, doubles down on functionality with water repellency, a reinforced hood, and enough adjustability to handle whatever the city—or the coast—throws at it. The Oversized Single-Breasted Coat offers the opposite: a sweeping A-line silhouette, clean and simple, designed to be thrown on and worn anywhere.

Layering comes alive in the knitwear. Merino blend high-necks, lambswool crews, and tonal cardigans are lightweight enough to stack yet rich enough to wear solo. Shirts sit slightly oversized with utility detailing—a nod to outdoor gear, but polished down for everyday life. The palette is consistent throughout: deep indigo blues at the core, joined by basil green and a surprisingly rich plum, each tone anchoring the collection’s restrained aesthetic.

Uniqlo U has always thrived in this space between workhorse utility and contemporary ease. FW25 sharpens that identity with pieces that refuse to overcomplicate, but also resist fading into the background. It’s clothing designed to be lived in, layered with intent, and worn well into the years ahead.

The Uniqlo U Fall/Winter 2025 collection is  available in stores and online now.

The Rakish Edit: Uniqlo U FW25 Menswear Heroes

PUFFTECH Blouson
A short, rounded cut with lightweight insulation. Technical warmth meets clean proportions — the kind of jacket that works as easily over tailoring as it does with denim.

Merino Blend High Neck
A classic layering piece reimagined with Uniqlo U’s restraint. Slim, versatile, and ready to slip under everything from a parka to a blazer.

BLOCKTECH Utility Parka
Functional outerwear made sharper. With water repellency, a reinforced hood, and double placket, it’s engineered for city life but still feels at home outdoors.
