M&S Makes Its London Fashion Week Debut With 100 Years of Menswear in Mind
M&S has officially joined the London Fashion Week schedule for the first time, marking a century of fashion with a see-now, buy-now show at London’s Design Museum.
The 59-look collection spans womenswear and menswear, drawing on the M&S archive while pushing its familiar signatures into more contemporary territory. For menswear, tailoring remains central, but the styling moves beyond the conventional M&S formula.
Key pieces include a British Millerain dry-wax car coat with cord collar, Japanese selvedge denim, heritage-check outerwear, an 80s-inspired double-breasted wool suit and a velvet evening suit. A heritage-check wool-blend puffer layered over faux-grain leather adds a more directional note, while deep blues, browns and flashes of red give the collection its colour story.
The approach is consistent with the wider collection: take recognisable M&S codes and recalibrate them rather than simply reproduce them. The archive has supplied silhouettes, fabrics and styling references, but the finished clothes are designed for contemporary wardrobes.
It is also a particularly commercial runway proposition. All 59 looks are available to buy immediately, with 16 menswear looks forming part of the collection. Half of the collection is priced below £50, putting the show firmly into M&S territory even as the presentation moves onto the LFW schedule.
The collection is available online and through selected UK and Irish flagship stores.
