John Legend and Pharrell Williams Join Forces on New Album Muse
John Legend has released Muse, a new album produced in full and co-written by Pharrell Williams, bringing together two decades of friendship and a shared appetite for genre-hopping soul.
For Williams, the project adds another creative outlet alongside his role as Louis Vuitton Men’s creative director. The album was largely written and recorded at his studio inside the French fashion house’s Paris headquarters, with classic orchestration meeting contemporary production across 16 tracks.
Strings, horns and 808s provide the framework, drawing on gospel, doo-wop, classic soul, Afrobeats and hip-hop. Williams’ influence is particularly evident in the record’s cinematic ambition, which Legend describes as having a “Black James Bond feel”.
The collaboration follows Legend’s appearance on Clipse’s Let God Sort ’Em Out, where his contribution to “The Birds Don’t Sing” prompted Williams to develop a full project around his voice.
The album’s release arrives alongside the video for “Bodies On The Floor”, featuring Clipse. Directed by Paul Hunter, the black-and-white film follows two lovers caught between betrayal and reconciliation, with Legend performing at the piano as the drama unfolds.
Elsewhere, “Pray For Ya” previously soundtracked Louis Vuitton’s Fall-Winter 2026 Men’s show, placing the album within Williams’ wider creative world. “Daylight” offers a more buoyant take on romance, while “Fireflies” turns towards inequality, loss and resilience.
Muse is available now via Republic Records. Listen to the album here and watch the video for “Bodies On The Floor” here.
