The menswear is defined by space. Tailoring relaxes, silhouettes become less restrictive and layers sit away from the body rather than enclosing it. Leather, one of Bottega Veneta’s defining materials, is treated with a lighter hand, while construction remains central to the collection.

That balance matters. Trotter is not abandoning tailoring or craft; she is adjusting their weight and movement. The result is menswear that feels more open, with clothes designed to move rather than simply hold their shape.

The collection also continues Bottega Veneta’s interest in Intrecciato, extending the house’s signature technique beyond its obvious application. Weaving becomes a broader idea: materials, techniques and different creative disciplines brought together through the hand. Vogue Italia highlighted the collection’s emphasis on movement, irregular volumes and the space created between clothing and body.

There is also less rigidity around traditional menswear codes. Masculine and feminine references overlap without turning the clothes into an exercise in neutrality. The emphasis is instead on movement between positions, with proportion and construction doing much of the work.

For Bottega Veneta, Summer 2027 makes a convincing case for lighter menswear: less armour, more room to move, and enough craft in the clothes to reward a closer look.
