The Matcha Drop: Pophams x JENKI Return with an Edible Cup
London’s appetite for cult collaborations shows no sign of slowing. This month, Pophams reunites with JENKI for a limited-edition pastry that speaks directly to the capital’s taste for considered craft.
Available from 23rd February to 1st March at Pophams’ London Fields, Islington and Victoria Park bakeries, the £7 creation takes the form of an edible matcha cup. It’s a precise construction: buttery viennoiserie shaped into a vessel, filled with coconut sponge and mandarin jam, topped with matcha cream and finished with a coconut swirl that nods to latte art. A final dusting of ceremonial-grade JENKI matcha seals the deal.
The collaboration follows last year’s sell-out mochi pastry and builds on a relationship already embedded in-store; JENKI’s shade-grown, small-batch matcha has been served in Pophams’ bakeries for years. For founder Ollie Gold, the logic is straightforward: let the ingredient lead. JENKI’s matcha, milled in Japan to preserve its sweetness and depth, has enough character to carry a pastry without distraction.
Limited run. No pre-orders. If you’re serious about matcha — or pastry — you know what to do.
