Labombe by Trivet Brings Contemporary Art to Mayfair

Labombe by Trivet is marking its first year in Mayfair with Luminescence, a new contemporary art exhibition created with Incubator Gallery and A Space For Art. The exhibition brings together four emerging women artists — Eva Dixon, Katherine Qiyu Su, Emma Windsor-Liscombe and Celia Mora — with their work displayed throughout the Michelin-starred restaurant.

The setting is significant. Labombe occupies the former Met Bar on Old Park Lane, an address with its own place in London’s creative history. Rather than treating the artwork as decoration, the restaurant has deliberately kept its interiors relatively restrained, allowing the exhibition to become part of the experience.

For a restaurant whose audience sits firmly within London’s fashion, hospitality and creative industries, the crossover makes sense. Luminescence moves between abstraction, figuration and sculptural assemblage, giving the space a changing visual identity over its six-month run.

Dixon combines sculpture, textiles and painting, using industrial and reclaimed materials to explore construction and labour. Katherine Qiyu Su works between figuration and abstraction, examining memory through representations of bodies and movement. Windsor-Liscombe’s portraits and narrative works explore mythology and the environmental consequences of mining, while Celia Mora draws on classical figuration and Spanish Baroque painting to examine intimacy, power and the gaze.

The exhibition arrives after a significant first year for Labombe. The Mayfair restaurant, created by Trivet co-founders Jonny Lake and Master Sommelier Isa Bal, earned its first Michelin star just five months after opening. Head Chef Evan Moore leads the kitchen, while Philipp Reinstaller, the 2024 UK Sommelier of the Year, oversees the wine programme and front of house.

The restaurant itself takes a more relaxed approach to the cooking associated with Trivet, built around grill-focused, shareable dishes and an ambitious wine list. Turkish architect Umay Çeviker of Derin Yeşil Architects has kept the interiors warm and neutral — a deliberate backdrop for the rotating programme of art.

Luminescence is on display for six months at Labombe by Trivet, 19 Old Park Lane, London W1K 1LB.
