The Bicester Collection x I Was a Sari: Indian Craftsmanship Gets a Second Life

Fashion’s relationship with sustainability is often more complicated than the marketing suggests. The Bicester Collection’s latest DO GOOD collaboration takes a more tangible approach, partnering with Mumbai-based circular fashion brand I Was a Sari on an exclusive collection that puts discarded Indian textiles to work.

Available now, the collection reworks pre-loved saris into contemporary fashion and lifestyle pieces, with menswear firmly on the agenda. Statement bomber jackets bring traditional fabrics into a modern wardrobe, while bags, jewellery and accessories offer further ways to wear the collection. Homeware and hand-embroidered festive ornaments complete the line-up.

The appeal lies in the material itself. Saris carry their own histories through colour, pattern and embellishment; rather than treating these textiles as surplus, I Was a Sari gives them a new purpose through the work of its women artisans in Mumbai.

There is a wider social dimension, too. The brand creates employment, develops skills and supports livelihoods for women and their communities in India. Through The Bicester Collection’s DO GOOD philanthropic programme, the partnership connects that work with its wider Season of Giving. All profits from the two dedicated pop-ups will support women and their communities locally and globally through I Was a Sari and The Bicester Collection’s DO GOOD Foundation.

The collection will be available at Bicester Village from 29 October to 15 November, and at Fidenza Village from November until early January. Across the Collection’s European Villages, shoppers can also discover the pieces through festive installations and a dedicated digital lookbook.
