Brooklyn’s Best Pizza Is Taking Over The Standard, London
Brooklyn’s cult pizzeria Best Pizza is bringing its Williamsburg credentials to London this August, taking over the ground-floor Double Standard at The Standard, London from 7 August to 13 September.
Founded in 2010 by Frank Pinello, Best Pizza built its reputation around the neighbourhood pizzeria tradition, with its original Brooklyn operation centred on a century-old wood-burning oven. For the London residency, that approach moves across the Atlantic, with 14–16-inch pies cooked in a Gozney live-fire oven.
The menu covers the essentials: Margherita, White Pie and Marinara, alongside a London-exclusive Soppressata Coppola. There are also Best Pizza’s square Grandma and Veggie pies, because committing to one format would be unnecessarily restrictive. The supporting cast is suitably considered. Stuzzichini includes sautéed long hot peppers, pickled aubergine, caponata and an anchovy and Calabrian chilli spread, designed to work as both starters and toppings.
Drinks come courtesy of London brewery Two Tribes, with its core beer range alongside cocktails including a Hugo Spritz. Dessert is classic Tiramisu.
For a London summer, the proposition is straightforward: Brooklyn pizza, live fire, good beer and a temporary address in King’s Cross. The residency runs for just over five weeks.
