Tod’s Sets Sail With the Marlin Collection
There are few brands better positioned to tackle nautical dressing than Tod's. The house has long traded on a distinctly Italian idea of ease — luxurious, practical and never trying too hard — so the new Marlin collection feels like a natural extension rather than a seasonal gimmick.
Inspired by the legendary boat once owned by John F. Kennedy, the collection draws together the relaxed sensibilities of New England sailing culture and the understated elegance of Capri, where the Marlin has spent the past two decades. The result is menswear that references life by the water without leaning into costume.
The key piece is the Marlin Bomber, crafted from technical cotton with soft nappa leather trimming the pockets and collar. A sailor’s knot zip detail quietly reinforces the maritime influence, while the clean silhouette keeps things modern. It’s the kind of lightweight outerwear Tod’s does particularly well: functional, refined and versatile enough to wear far beyond a marina.
Equally strong is the updated Marlin loafer, which revisits one of the brand’s most recognisable styles with softer proportions and a more contemporary profile. The connection to the iconic Gommino remains intact through subtle heel detailing, but the overall feel is less formal and more adaptable — suited to tailoring, denim or linen drawstring trousers alike.
Elsewhere, canvas-and-leather bags arrive with customisable charms, while the Greca Belt appears in a crisp striped white-and-green finish inspired by the original Marlin boat. A silk scarf featuring the vessel itself adds a final touch of Riviera polish.
Crucially, none of it feels overworked. Which, for Tod’s, is exactly the point.
