ThruDark Expands Its Technical Arsenal with the Orbital and Pinnacle Backpack Series

ThruDark has built its reputation on equipment designed to withstand genuine extremes rather than studio conditions, and its latest backpack collection follows the same philosophy. Nearly a year after launching its everyday carry luggage, the British brand has introduced the Orbital 30L and Pinnacle technical backpack series, developed specifically for mountaineering, hiking and extended expeditions.

The lengthy development process reflects the brand's uncompromising approach. Prototype packs were carried to the summit of Mount Everest by co-founder Anthony 'Staz' Stazicker during his 2025 ascent, tested across alpine terrain in Zermatt by fellow co-founder Louis Tinsley, and put through demanding field exercises by ambassador Jason Fox during filming of SAS: Who Dares Wins. Rather than relying on laboratory claims, ThruDark has validated the range in the environments it was built for.

The Pinnacle range is available in 28L and 42L capacities, both constructed from recycled Robic® 210D Hex Nylon with reinforced ballistic nylon panels. Adjustable back systems, integrated rain covers, hydration compatibility and thoughtful load management make them equally suited to fast day hikes or multi-day trekking, depending on capacity.

The Orbital 30L takes a more specialist approach. Designed for climbing and alpine pursuits, it combines a Dyneema®-reinforced ripstop fabric with a highly waterproof construction, integrated RECCO® rescue technology, detachable helmet cover and dedicated rope and ice axe attachment points. Every feature serves a practical purpose, resulting in a pack engineered for technical mountain objectives rather than everyday versatility.
