Reflecting on the closed theatres and how private we are without live entertainment and art performances, Giuseppe Giofre is dancing facing his own shadow in pieces by Bianca Sanders, Giambattista Valli and AMI.

Giuseppe, could you please introduce yourself in few words

Ciao :) My name is Giuseppe I’m from Italy, moved to Los Angeles for dancing at the age of 20 and been living in the States for the past 7 years. I’m in London due to the pandemic and hopefully ill back in la next year.

What is your best memory of performance on stage?

Being on tour is amazing. I love exploring cities or being on stage with a major artist and get to dance in front of 80,000 people. My favourite moment was definitely with Taylor Swift. I gave her a tissue during a show and that video went kinda viral.

What is the feeling of being on stage, performing in front of a live audience?

The feeling is the one that you are telling yourself that you made it, you always dreamed of this and here it is. That feeling, trust me is the best feeling. I wish I could do and see that right now during this hard time we are living.

Can you tell us how you went through this weird year?

I did suffer a lot, who didn't? But you know that we learned a lot, we learned how to survive, grow, learn and express as well as appreciate small things.

The entertainment industry has suffered with all tours and live gigs forbidden. How is it a struggle for you?

Lots of artists are stuck and can’t really express and do what they love the most doing - performing. I’m very hopeful of a better future that is full of performance.

Some performers are now doing online performances. What do you think about it?

I think is a nice idea. I recently worked on Dua Lipa and it was such a good experience and fans all over the world got to experience some live music and visuals thanks to that, but I don’t think it will be the new normal - we need live performances.

What are your expectations for the new year?

I hope one day we will find peace, that’s pretty much all I can say, and we will get to live our life without fear or anger and finally being able to get back to our lives.
