Mike Skinner Takes PATRÓN Re-Mastered: Live to London’s ICA

British music icon Mike Skinner brought The Streets’ distinctive creative perspective to London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts on Wednesday night, joining PATRÓN Tequila for Re-Mastered: Live — an evening centred on the process behind the work, rather than simply its finished product.

The event formed part of PATRÓN’s ongoing Re-Mastered cultural series, which explores the craft and dedication of artists, makers and creatives. For Skinner, whose influence on British music stretches back more than two decades, the format offered an opportunity to examine the decisions, experiments and influences that have shaped his catalogue.

In conversation with longtime collaborator Murkage Dave and cultural critic and BBC broadcaster Ellen E. Jones, Skinner discussed his approach to making music and the creative thinking behind some of his most enduring work. His ability to merge rap and garage helped establish a sound that would influence artists well beyond the UK.

The discussion was followed by an exclusive DJ set from Skinner, bringing the evening to a close in the ICA’s intimate setting.

Among the guests were Pixie Geldof, Saffron Hocking, Rafferty Law, John Glacier and Lil Silva. The evening also featured a selection of PATRÓN serves, including Mike’s Margarita — a spicy pineapple variation on the classic Spicy Margarita, made with PATRÓN Reposado — alongside the PATRÓN Paloma and Silver Margarita.

The collaboration reflects a shared emphasis on process. Skinner has recently explored the making of his music through behind-the-scenes content, drawing attention to the decisions and revisions that usually remain outside the finished track. PATRÓN’s tequila production similarly centres on traditional methods, including brick ovens, copper stills and volcanic tahona stone mills.

With Re-Mastered: Live, the brand placed Skinner’s creative method at the centre of the evening, giving London’s cultural crowd a closer look at the work behind the music.
