It may not look that way over the last week of grey skies, but summer is now here and as such, it’s time to introduce subtle ways to update your wardrobe for the season. The boat shoe is one such way.

Despite the name, one does not need to own a boat or be on a boat to wear a pair of boat shoes. The loafer like design has been given functional features like the soft sole which ensures that you don’t go dancing around the deck. The light, bright design and typically bold colours make them a perfect choice for when spring transitions into summer.

Men’s footwear aficionados G.H. Bass & Co. have developed a whole range of superb boat shoes for the new season. Comfort and versatility are at the forefront of all of the designs, as there is nothing worse than a pair of shoes that you can only wear once.

The boat shoe has been a key part of the brands history since 1910 and grew to popularity in the Sixties when donned by the preppy young students of Ivy League universities who become fond of the hand-sewn tubular design. The new range of boat shoes aim to fit seamlessly into work or play. The new range includes the Bass Weekenders range of boat shoes which boast a cushioned deck sole with all the ease of a sneaker (so the best of both worlds really). The wonderfully named Sportocassin Boaters are set on a slight wedge rubber sole whilst the Jetty II Boaters are crafted in leather, resin back suede and soft nubuck versions.

Each style within the new range is developed with a flexible, lightweight comfort sole that offers long-term cushioning, even with continued wear.
