Words - Marta Eireos

The new season is about to burst into our lives and the change of wardrobe inevitably comes along. The latest trend for Spring-Summer? Dressing according to what we think. Sustainable fashion is on the rise, becoming ever-present both on the catwalk, and in our wardrobes. There has been a progressive change of mentality, slow but unstoppable: Now, the consumer not only looks at the aesthetic part of the garments but goes much further. Potential buyers also want to know how and where the clothes were made in order to make a final decision. The so-called “slow fashion” is responsible, consistent with the planet Earth and transparent with people, fabrics, conditions and travel from production to the point of sale. Conscious clothing is not just a temporary tendency: It has become an authentic need that several brands - from large firms to low-cost textile companies - have made a virtue of.

So, how can we collaborate to build the fashion of tomorrow?

That’s simple: Buying brands that safeguard the environment during their process and, above all, take care that the employment standards of the labour are as optimal as possible. Shopping in companies that want to demonstrate us that not only that it is possible to design and create garments with ethical and sustainable values, but also this conscious clothing is accessible and trendy incorporating the style of the renowned brands.

The fashion industry no longer operates with a merely aesthetic objective. What is behind every single garment we wear in our daily lives matters more and more. It seems pretty clear that sustainability is going to be the next thing in the global fashion movement.
