David Gandy Wellwear Unveils the Ultimate Trunk
David Gandy has spent the better part of 25 years in the world’s finest tailoring and underwear campaigns. He’s worn everything the industry has produced, and yet, as he admits, “I’ve never had a go-to pair of underwear.” That frustration has finally found its solution. This season, David Gandy Wellwear introduces the Ultimate Trunk—a product two years in the making, built not on gimmicks but on the simple promise of all-day comfort.
The launch marks a new chapter for Wellwear, a brand that has already earned a following for its loungewear, pyjamas, and T-shirts designed with comfort and wellbeing at their core. Underwear, however, is arguably the most personal of all men’s staples, and according to Gandy, the one most often overlooked. In designing the Ultimate Trunk, the brand took a considered approach, surveying over 50,000 customers. The feedback was direct: men don’t want flashy logos, they favour shorter cuts, and versatility is key.
The result is a single, meticulously engineered design available in navy, black, and white. It’s understated, confident, and purposefully stripped of branding—a conscious departure from the logo-heavy trend that has dominated the category. “This is simply the most flattering design on the market,” Gandy says. “But it isn’t about being sexy for other people. It’s about how you feel when you put them on.”
Fabric choice has been central to the development. The trunks are cut from Wellwear’s trusted blend of cotton, modal, and elastane, already tried and tested in its bestselling T-shirts and pyjamas. They are treated with the brand’s ‘Wellwear Breathe’ technology, a dermatologically tested antibacterial and anti-odour finish that holds up wash after wash. The result is softness that feels indulgent, stretch that doesn’t sag, and durability designed for the everyday.
It’s a product designed to fit seamlessly into a man’s wardrobe, whatever the day holds. As Gandy points out, underwear is unseen but never insignificant. The right pair, he argues, changes how you carry yourself. “Softness is a serious business. Underwear might be hidden, but the right pair can make you feel grounded, secure, and confident. That’s the Wellwear way.”
The Ultimate Trunk is available now, priced at £16 per pair or £45 for a pack of three. One design, three colours, no distractions—just a piece that does exactly what it needs to, and does it exceptionally well.
