Bas Bains SS23

Designer Sebastiaan Groenen has just this week launched the debut collection from Bas Bains, a new brand offering sustainable resort wear brand for men. Composed of bathing suits, tops, and accessories, rendered in playful prints and colours, the collection is a cultured take on the Med’s fun and sun.

Tired of dull and lifeless resort wear, Sebastiaan also became increasingly interested in and knowledgeable about sustainable clothing. It was during a stint at ENVIU (a social impact venture builder), supporting Khaloom (an India-based company that produces handwoven fabrics using recycled and organic yarns) that he began to piece together how a small brand could produce quality products with the planet in mind.

The new collection is a colourful, cultured and sophisticated take on the sun and fun of the Med. Perfect for sun-drenched afternoons, prints can be found on two styles of swimsuits (slip and sunga), as well as on t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, and bucket hats. These six styles, which form the first collection, will also be rendered in the brand’s core colours: menta and marino blue. All garments are made in regulated workshops along the Mediterranean using sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, and ECONYL® regenerated nylon.
