Admiral Sports launch 50 Years of the Replica Shirt

Admiral Sports is set to release a 50-year celebration of football revolution. To set the scene, Admiral Sports paved the way for sportswear brands in the 70’s, introducing and selling the first ever replica shirt sparking exploration into the design, culture and manufacturing within the industry up until present day.

The new book is a combination archival imagery, original design sketches and collector contributions alongside essays from football’s best writers, as well as recollections from legends of the game including Gary Lineker and Roy Hodgson. The book will also feature longer-form essays on notable kits and their context from some of football's best writers, contributions from famous fans and academic insight into the design, manufacturing and socially pioneering nature of shirts.

Marking the first year of replica shirt sales, an initial 1,974 individually numbered, hardback books are now on sale on a pre-order basis, available to customers directly from Admiral for £45. These will be the only books of this type produced, before a softback version is released for retail later in 2024.

From £45 and available for pre-sale at Admiral Sports.
