WHISTLES MENSWEAR A/W '14
Anyone who is anyone knows that Whistles have just launched their first ever collection for men. Bearing the hallmarks of the intelligent and refined womenswear collections, the range for men is built on notions of contemporary design and modern utility.
The launch collection features all of the necessary building blocks for a modern, edited wardrobe for autumn/ winter. Classic, tailored outerwear is blended with high end knits and easy accessories for a functional but still fashionable look. The overcoats are cut ever so slightly oversize which look great when worn with tapered and slimmed down trousers. One of the key pieces of the collection – a shearling black biker jacket is inspired by old school aviator jackets.
A highlight of the collection in my humble opinion is the lounge and sports wear. The jerseys are smart and unfussy, upgraded with the use of cashmere, the tracksuit in this collection is s luxury piece. The pared down, high quality feel of these pieces mark the range out from other competitors, where the focus is merely on a smarter style. Knitwear is similarly pared down – there is a great selection of chunky, hand knitted sweaters and roll necks in smart fine gauge wools and mohair blends.
