WHISTLES A/W '16
Whistles’ range for men has developed a reputation for classic and contemporary style, without fuss and unnecessary embellishment and the autumn collection follows suit, with a collection that focuses on modern workwear with luxurious finishing touches.
Inspired by French New Wave cinema, specifically the ultra cool styling of Jean Paul Belmondo in films by Jean Luc Goddard, the collection has a real sense of purpose, inherent from the relaxed, slightly retro mood. The slim silhouette has loosened up with trousers and roomy overcoats and relaxed shirting, which adds depth to clean lines and an elegant, tailored mood.
The collection is full of premium fabrications and it is these details that make Whistles stand above many of its competitors. These help to create a sense of everyday luxury via stripes, plaid, wool and herringbone weaves. Expanded checks in a number of pieces are a nice touch, as are the Breton stripes. Built on a foundation of indigo, sand and grey creates a modern and contemporary wardrobe full of everyday pieces to build your style upon.
An autumn collection needs to be functional as well as stylish. Functionality here is a key design feature, evident with purposeful pockets, internal finishes and refined trims. Lightweight knits can easily be layered up with T-shirts, super soft shirts and sporty outerwear that looks great whatever the weather.
