SUNSPEL x PATTERNITY
Earlier in the year, luxury basics brand Sunspel embarked on a special project with cult pattern specialists Patternity to celebaret the London Design Festival. Patternity’s ethos is the observation of patterns that make up everyday life. As Sunspel work to create clothes that make our everyday simple and basic, it made sense to collaborate on a capsule collection of T-shirts.
Patternity worked to curate a series of patterns sourced in and around Shoreditch, local to the Sunspel store on Redchurch Street, that is also conveniently close to Patternity’s HQ. The area proved to be a rich source of inspiration, with a tree bark, paving slabs, concrete, fencing and brickwork all being curated for the project.
The resulting patterns have been turned into a photographic installation at the store and of course onto Sunspel T-shirts. Taking old printing plates used in labeling in the past, the Sunspel logo has been reinterpreted in a sketchy graphite rubbing, created in the same Nottingham factory that make all of Sunspel’s T-shirts. The T-shirts, which are all navy and blue, are available in three different prints are all priced at £75.
