SMART TURNOUT A/W '14
Military and menswear go together hand in hand and it is this influence that Smart Turnout have focused on for their new autumn collection.
Drawing specifically on the golden age of aviation, the collection is powerful and understatedly elegant. Founded by former Scots guard officer Philip Turnout the brand has been built on quintessential British traditions. The collection now includes a full menswear line but was started when Mr Turnout was unable to find a high quality jumper in his regimental colours. So naturally, he made his own.
There is (thankfully) no attempt to reinvent the wheel – pieces are simple menswear staples which would fit easily into the wardrobe of many a rakish gent. These staples come via new textures and subtle colours, which are inspired by colours of British regiments, universities and schools which have always been at the heart of Smart Turnout. The muted grey and navy blue colour combination is a particularly strong one that is spot on for winter.
An accessories range that includes bow ties, socks and neck ties has been expanded to include small leather accessories such as an Ipad case and mobile phone sleeves. The watch range, for which the label is renowned, also sees five new additions in great new colours.
