LOOK OF THE WEEK
The illustration featured on The Rakish Gent just gets better and better. This week, I am really pleased to be able to showcase the talents of Kai Karenin. Based in St Petersburg, he works as an illustrator, painter and graphic designer. His speciality is vector art, which involves no brushes or pens and is based on Bezier curves and built on points. The finished image looks super clean and minimal and works really effectively to create a realistic and mathematically looked work of art.
My obsession with AW14 outerwear continues and the look that Kai has created, styled by me, centres on the amazing wool blend shawl collar overcoat from cult brand Ann Demeulemeester, at Mr Porter. The sharp shoulders and elegant curve work great with a simple white shirt underneath (or nothing at all if that takes your fancy). Super skinny Topman jeans work really well, when paired with these great Dents leather gloves and Grenson brogue boots which are both available at Asos.
A huge thanks to Kai for his illustration. I love the little details (the name of the designer hidden on the coat) and the graphic effect of the background, as well as the sexy and masculine look of the model in his art. You can see more of his work on his own website, as well as following him on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and of course Instagram.
