LOOK OF THE WEEK
Monochrome for men is a trend that will never fail to be fashionable. Black is a colour that we all naturally gravitate to and white adds much needed lightness and brightness to a tonally dark look. It was another trend that was big on the spring/ summer 2015 catwalks, seen at the shows of designers like Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Givenchy.
For this weeks illustrated look, we started with a printed shirt from Christopher Kane. Kane is a master of print and for SS15 worked on digital prints that featured graphic, geometric designs. The print on this shirt (available at FarFetch) is inspired by the pages of a book. We styled the smart shirt with drawstring black trousers from Zara, which are perfect for the warm weather with their loose cotton tailoring.
Whilst we are fully aware that grey is neither black nor white, it is a combination of the two and the beautiful Givenchy grey leather briefcase from Mr Porter adds a sense of luxury to the look. The ultra cool shades are courtesy of Moncler at Matches Fashion.
To show you how to do monochrome well, we turned to the very talented Victoria Gerasimchuk. Victoria is an architect from Minsk, Belarus who has a real passion is for fashion illustration. She has a great skill in being able to make illustrations come to live and give them a personality. You can find out more about her on her Instagram and Tumblr pages.
