LOOK OF THE WEEK
I have long been an admirer of the style of illustrator Ego Rodriguez. I find that the images that he creates always have a sense of nostalgia about them, helped by the Warhol esque pops of bright colours. I was naturally thrilled when he agreed to work together on a Look of the Week post for The Rakish Gent. Originally from Spain, but now residing in London he defines his work as a selection of dark ideas, represented with bright colours. He always tries to find a theatrical angle to his work when creating new concepts and characters.
The character that he has created this week is proof that spending time in the gym pays off. Never the most interesting of places, whether you are into working out or not, you still want to look good. The look, styled by me is a pretty perfect set of pieces for exercise. A simple white Derek Rose T shirt at Matches Fashion is styled with running tights from Nike. The perfect blend of performance and style they are crafted from stretchy fabric that moves smoothly with your skin as you run. You can get your hands on a pair at Mr Porter. Keeping the basics simple, a great pair of Flyknit running trainers from Asos and this great bag from Cote & Ciel at Oki-Ni help to keep things interesting.
A huge thanks to Ego for his awesome illustration. You can find out more about him at his website as well as following on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
