LOOK OF THE WEEK
With London Collections: Men kicking off today, we decided to take a look back at last season’s offerings and present an illustrated look of the week that brings one of the strongest collections to life. The Burberry Prorsum S/S’15 show was (and always is) a real highlight of fashion week. The show saw models sporting oversized hats and satchels, and colours not typically associated with autumn (deep greens, blues and purple). Bright and bold, with slim cut suits and those classic trenches, it had an immediate “need it now” quality. Well now, you can finally get your hands on it.
The look featured this week, styled by me, is head to toe Burberry. The starting point is the waterproof, linen, navy double breasted coat. A classic piece, this would look just as good over a suit as it would over a pair of smart jeans. Keeping to the navy theme, the trousers are a tailored linen pair in the same shade of midnight blue. Whilst there is nothing wrong with tonal dressing, I chose to break things up a little by opting for the boat neck sweater in a bright aqua green. Add a felt hat to make things extra rakish and you are done. The coat, trousers and sweater are all available now at Matches Fashion, whilst the hat and glossed leather brogues are at Mr Porter.
This week, we are very pleased to be able to bring the talents of illustrator Maisie Noble to the site. A freelance illustrator based in London, Maisie graduated from The University of the Arts with first class honours and has since then worked on an animated feature film, a project with the National Trust as well as being featured in Elle Hungary and exhibited in Covent Garden, Carnaby Street and Redchurch Street in London, in addition to Paris and Dubai. Often experimental and always whimsical, she incorporates s bold lines and statement colour into her art. Incredibly professional, a complete joy to work with and immensely talented, you can find out more about her website and blog, as well as by following her Twitter and Instagram profiles.
