GOODWIN SMITH SHOES
A pair of shoes can make or break an outfit. The new collection from Goodwin Smith takes away the stuffy formality often found in men’s shoe brands, while keeping strong traditional design elements and injecting them with a sense of fun.
Manufacturing shoes since 1928, the brand has a unique history involving rival shoemakers Ernie Goodwin (a Manchester City footballer) and Walter Smith, who shared a passion for good quality footwear and a great night out. When Goodwin and Smith combined their swagger and style together they joined forces to great what was then known as “The Bacup Shoe Company”. I think Goodwin Smith works much better.
One hundred years later, the brand embodies that sense of fun and creativity that the founders had in spades. You only need to look at the campaign imagery here to see that these shoes are for the man that works hard and plays even harder. Whilst there is an element of fun, this should not detract from the craftsmanship. Simple and strong designs, refined craftsmanship and great manufacturing mean that your night out shoes are made to the highest standard. I am a big fan of this fun and fearless approach to fashion and have picked my favourite four of the current range, below:
